New Zealand will be looking to sustain their winning momentum
New Zealand will be looking to sustain their winning momentum. Canada will be hoping to create a good impression if not upset the obviously stronger Kiwis and Wankhede Stadium curator Sudhir Naik will be hoping that the wicket will behave well as the brand new stadium hosts its first international game after renovation.
Former India opener Naik has maintained it will be a typicalu00a0 Wankhede wicket ufffd "little bounce and good carry."
Meanwhile, New Zealand, missing captain Daniel Vettori due to an injury, would be looking to sustain their winning momentum.
Vice-captain Ross Taylor, who cracked a match-winning 131 against Pakistan in Pallekele, will lead the side in the absence of Vettori who injured his knee while fielding in that game.
Taylor said the Kiwis' task was simple, to win their remaining two group games and not worry about whom they would play in the quarter-finals.
"Net run rate may play a part, but the focus is on winning the next two games, whether chasing or batting first," Taylor told reporters on Saturday.
Canada skipper Ashish Bagai said: "We are looking to use this as a spark for the second half of the first round.
My goal now is to get the batsmen who are performing to be consistent and leave the first round on a high."
