Though it was Andrew Flintoff who instigated Yuvraj Singh, it was Stuart Broad who had to face the wrath. The southpaw dislodged the England pacer Broad for six sixes in an over to create history in World T20 Internationals. Yuvraj (58 off 16) also scored the fastest half-century in T20s. Openers Virender Sehwag (68) and Gautam Gambhir (58) put up a century stand as India posted 218 runs. England fell short by 18 runs.

Indian bowlers did well to restrict Paul Collingwood's men to 153, but the batsmen failed to achieve the target in the stipulated 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja consumed 35 balls for his 25 runs and that put pressure on the lower order. Skipper MS Dhoni (30 n o) and Yusuf Pathan (33 n o) did well to bring down the required rate, but it still wasn't enough as India lost by three runs in the end.
