It is not uncommon to see street cricket being played, but to have an international star on the roads, hitting the ball around is a rare spectacle.
Chennai was recently hit by the Cyclone Vardah and due to that, no nets were available for practice sessions as players arrived at M A Chidambaram Stadium. Root wasted no time and used the streets as his new spot for training.
Here is a video of the English batsman, throwing caution to the wind and going about his business.

Joe Root's new style of training paid off as he scored a fifty in the ongoing fifth Test match against India in Chennai.
Root was unlucky to miss out on what would have been a well-deserved century as he was snared by left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja while on 88 following an unsuccessful review.
