The crocked Italian will be out for the rest of the season, but he is still on hand to fire up his side from the stands.
"Kaka made the right choice to stay, he knows people in Milan love him," Gattuso told Italia 1.
"He is a club symbol and he thought long and hard about it. Everyone loves him here and the team helped him win the Ballon d'Or in the past.
"I was in the same situation with Bayern Munich last year, but we cleared this up with the club."
