John Ekiru Kelei of Kenya will attempt to make it three-in-a-row in the Mumbai Marathon on January 18 but is expected to face stiff challenge from countrymen Usisivu Boniface and Kipkorir Kosgei.
Kelei will be aiming to break the course record of 2:12.03 seconds standing in the name of compatriot Daniel Rono since 2006 in the sixth edition of the event, the first international sporting event in Mumbai after the November 26 terror attacks carrying a total prize money of USD 2,50,000
Kelei first won the men's title in 2007 and repeated it by slicing six seconds off that winning effort of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 27 seconds last year.
