Kings XI Punjab thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 111 runs in their Indian Premier League match at the HPCA Stadium here Tuesday.

Kings XI Punjab smashed 232 for two in their 20 overs.

Adam Gilchrist scored a blistering 106 off 55 balls while Shaun Marsh made 79 off 49 balls in their record 206-run stand for the second wicket.

Apart from AB De Villiers (34) none of the other batsmen could fire for the Royal Challengers while chasing such a huge target.

RCB were bowled out for mere 121 runs in 17 overs.

Kings XI pacer Ryan Harris took three wickets for 28 runs while spinner Piyush Chawla took four wickets and conceded just 17 runs.

In-form Gayle could not open his account and after his early dismissal the batting lineup of the Royal Challengers seemed completely dismantled.

Kings XI Punjab now play their next match against the Deccan Chargers on May 21 at Dharamsala.
