Kolkata to play host to Beckham

Football lovers in Kolkata are set for a real treat. Soon after Bayern Munich play a charity match in Kolkata next Sunday, fans will have the opportunity to watch English football legend David Beckham in action.

Becks will be staying in India's football capital, earlier visited by football greats like Diego Maradona and Diego Forlan, from December 10 to 12. Los Angeles Galaxy will play a match against the Indian Football Association XI (IFA).

Bengal clubs
IFA XI will be made up of footballers from Bengal-based clubs ufffd East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Mohamedan Sporting and Chirag United.

The match will be played at the Salt Lake stadium, which can accommodate 1,00,000 spectators.

Bhaswar Goswami, managing director of Kolkata-based Celebrity Management Group, which is organising the event, told Sunday MiD DAY: "All contractual formalities with LA Galaxy are now completed. I can safely say that they are coming to Kolkata. David Beckham is coming for sure."

It is also learnt that Beckham and his teammates will visit Mother Teresa's Missionary Charity 'Mother House' as well.
