Germany coach Joachim Loew has met with veteran midfielder Michael Ballack, and it has been confirmed that the Bayer Leverkusen player will no longer be a part of the national squad.

The emergence of a number of younger players has been given as a reason for the move, and the 34-year-old, who has suffered from injuries later in his career, has accepted Loew's decision. "The past months have shown that many young players are brought into focus and have good prospects. With them developing the national team since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the run (has been) completely positive," the 51-year-old was quoted as saying on Bayer Leverkusen's website
"After I had discussed this issue with Michael Ballack at our last meeting in late March 2011, together in the open and then we talked on the phone several times, (we) have now taken a clear position before the start of the season.
"In our conversations, I had the impression that Michael definitely understands our vision. Therefore in everyone's interest (there) is now an honest and clear decision attached," he continued.
Ballacku00a0 has made 98 appearances for his country.
"We all want to have Michael Ballack in his 99th cap pay a dignified farewell to the national team on August 10 in Brazil to celebrate, and (for him) to lead our team as a captain on the field for the last time.
"These considerations have long been known to him. We hope that he accepts this offer," he stated.
