The decision was taken at the Managing Committee meeting yesterday after several members felt the time to execute the plan was insufficient.
“Mumbai is known to do things in a grand way. Many members felt it was better to postpone the tournament to next year rather than conduct it in a rush. The window which we had (late December to early January 2016) was very tight,” Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar, MCA’s Joint Honorary Secretary, told mid-day. MCA had already floated tenders for the T20 tournament, inviting companies to be part of the event.
Kanga issue
Meanwhile, the issue of fixing suspected in a few matches of the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League was also discussed at yesterday’s meeting.
“It was decided to take the views of the CIC (Cricket Improvement Committee) on how to tackle this issue,” said Khanwilkar.
AGM on Jan 22
It was also announced that the Annual General Meeting of the MCA will be held on January 22. It was also decided to rotate groundsmen at all the three centres (Wankhede Stadium, BKC and Kandivli) for better exposure.
