Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is all set to issue a showcause notice to former treasurer Ravi Mandrekar, who linked the delay in announcement of the MCA elections to the Indian Premier League-10 ticket distribution among the current managing committee members.
According to a source, the decision to issue Mandrekar the showcause notice was taken in yesterday’s managing committee meeting at the Wankhede Stadium which president Ashish Shelar chaired.
“As he (Mandrekar) gave an interview to mid-day and made alleged that the MCA managing committee is delaying elections for IPL tickets and a few other things, the committee has decided to issue him a showcause notice. He has to reply within seven to 10 days,” the source added.
Mandrekar reacted to the news about the showcause notice by saying, “They (MCA) want to ban me again as they did for one year in 2014. But, according to MCA bylaws they, have no authority to do it.”
