Suspense over Lasith Malinga's availability for Mumbai Indians' next tie against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday continues.
The Sri Lankan pacer, who missed the last match against Delhi Daredevils, remained confined to his hotel room for a second successive day. Malinga did not turn up for practice at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s ground in Bandra Kurla Complex on Thursday, and also missed yesterday’s session at the Wankhede Stadium.

Mumbai Indians’ spokesperson said that a back spasm has forced Malinga to remain indoors. “He has back spasms and has been advised to completely rest. There is nothing to worry as such,” he said without giving any hints whether the pace ace would be available for the next match.
Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar batted in the nets for the second successive day giving further assurance of making a comeback after missing five games due to a finger injury. The batting maestro practised for nearly half an hour in the nets before doing some sprinting with his pads on. He then gave batting tips to his Mumbai Indians teammates.
