The league leaders welcome Stoke City to the Etihad Stadium tonight as they hope to secure a victory which will help maintain their excellent form before a daunting run of nine games in 36 days.
Sir Alex Ferguson saw his side take top spot in the League for a few hours on Sunday before City reclaimed the position. The Scot has challenged his side to make up the two-point deficit to Roberto Mancini's men and overtake them during the next month.
Silva told The Times: "We are aware that Manchester United are going to be pushing us all the way but we have to focus on ourselves.
"We have to keep on the road we have been on up to now, keep our own affairs in order and the rest will look after itself. At the moment it is United just behind us but others will be gathering towards the end of the season. To keep the gap as it is we have to keep winning our games.
You might say United have been disappointing but they are right there on our heels and you can't knock that. We know they are going to be right behind us so we have to make sure there are no slip-ups.
"We have to keep playing at the same level as we have been. We will be losing some players, but we have a big squad and the guys who step in will be up to the task."
