Clay court king sends out message to his French Open opponents

Reigning four-time champion Rafael Nadal has warned chief rivals Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic he has been playing "almost perfect" tennis in the run-up to the French Open.

With both British No 1 Murray and Djokovic showing signs of improvement on clay and World No 2 Federer buoyant after beating Nadal in the final of the Madrid Masters last week, the pretenders to the Spaniard's Roland Garros throne are queuing up. But Nadal is supremely confident of continuing his flawless record at a Grand Slam event he has made his own over the past few years. "Winning in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome and reaching the final in Madrid makes it an almost perfect clay-court season.

"I am very happy with how I have been playing. And it's always a pleasure playing at Roland Garros coming back here gives me a special sensation."

The 22-year-old's three main challengers have to face up to a scary statistic as they head into the tournament Nadal has never lost a match at the French Open.
