New season, new beginning for Force India

They may not have earned a point yet after a year on the Formula One circuit, but that's not something Force India is too worried about. They also had quite a few DNF's (did not finish) 11 for Adrian Sutil and seven for Giancarlo Fisichella out of their 18 races. But even that problem could well be eradicated in their Season II, given the team has tied the technical collaboration knot with the McLaren Mercedes team.

So, could there be anything separating Force India from their first F1 point in 2009?

Force India's new McLaren Mercedes engine-backed car is set to be ready just in time before the season kicks-off. However, what promises to make the season interesting is the fact that most of the other teams are in a similar situation. The recent domination of Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes could make way for a level playing field.

In fact, the air is so unpredictable that Fischella says it's impossible to even pick the Top 3. "Until we get to Melbourne, we cannot predict the order. The new regulations have made everyone design a completely new car. Some people might get it right, but some might have to improve quite quickly. So, we'll have to see," he said.

The other man behind the wheel and 10 years Fishchella's junior, Sutil cannot agree more. "I don't think anybody really knows where they are in relation to the rest of the field. Some of the stronger teams last year have had problems in testing this time, so there is a change in the field. The huge challenge posed to all teams is good for the sport. It will make it very interesting," explained Sutil.
