Meanwhile, the Board has done away with the zonal representation system while electing the president by amending the constitution.

The move will make it easier for legal eagle and senior BJP leader, Arun Jaitley to become the president of BCCI in 2014 after N Srinivasan’s term ends.

“The decision was necessary as there was no suitable candidate for the president’s post from East Zone in 2014,” the official said.

The amendment also allows the past presidents and incumbent to hold office for two terms (six years), instead of the existing one.u00a0
