So much so that Pakistan Cricket Board's Chief Operating Officer Shubhan Ahmed said that he would meet his Indian counterparts at the BCCI on the sidelines of the ICC chief executives' meeting in London next month to discuss all possibilities.
"Next month we will be in London for the ICC awards and chief executives' meeting and hopefully we will take up these issues with the Indian board officials," said Ahmed.
Despite Ahmed's intent to take things forward, there are officials in PCB who are unhappy about BCCI not compensating them for the cancelled tour of Pakistan in 2009.
"Even if this tour goes ahead, what about the 2009 tour? We lost millions of dollars and are still struggling to come to terms with it. India must first compensate us and then should we indulge in dialogue. We should not rush into anything," a top PCB official said.u00a0
In fact, PCB President Ijaz Butt met ICC President Sharad Pawar during his recent visit to New Delhi. However, he did not meet any BCCI officials.
"We didn't see a point in meeting him. He had come for some other work (to meet broadcasters for TV coverage rights of international matches in Pakistan)," said a BCCI official.
The official even denied Butt's claims in a newspaper article that both governments had agreed to play at a neutral venue. "Really? We are not aware of this," he added.u00a0
Bottom lineu00a0-- there has been no official word between the two boards. And the Indian board is not enthusiastic. When asked if he would be holding talks with Ahmed during his visit to London, BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said: "It's too early to say anything just yet. I was not even aware that PCB officials want to meet us in London. It (the series going ahead) depends on so many factors."
