"He (Ponting) did not smash a television screen. All he has done is thrown a box. It has hit a wall, bounced onto the back of the television which affected the vision on the TV," team media manager Lachy Patterson was quoted as saying by 'The Australian'.
"He apologised immediately for it, spoke to the team manager and that's where the issue finished," he added.
However, Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Rajesh Patel maintained that he would lodge a complaint with the BCCI. "We will complain to the BCCI ... we will send a photo of the TV also," Patel was quoted as saying.
"Ricky Ponting is the team captain and it's not good for the Australian team for the captain to behave this way," added Patel.
Ponting was run-out by a direct hit from Chris Mpofu in the Group A clash which Australia won by 91 runs.
