According to The Daily Star, Rooney admitted on Twitter that Coronation Street character David Platt, played by Jack P. Shepherd, was his favourite character in the ITV soap and his EastEnders idol is bed-hopper Max Branning (played by Jake Wood).
EastEnders is a long-running British television soap opera, first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One in February 1985. It currently ranks as one of the most watched shows in the UK.
The 25-year-old also revealed that he and wife Coleen are both massive soap fans.
"Waiting for Corrie and EastEnders to come on. Chilling with Coleen," Rooney tweeted.
"Favourite character on Corrie. David Platt. Steve McDonald and Becky make me laugh. But Platty is still the man," he added.
The choice of cheating Max will raise eyebrows as Rooney was unfaithful to Coleen with vice girls Helen Wood and Jennifer Thompson in 2009.
