How will a Kolkata lad feel when he is in the opposition team against Kolkata Knight Riders at the noisy Eden Gardens? Royal Challengers Bangalore's Shreevats Goswami will know by Sunday evening

Only the other day, Goswami was playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy (in which he scored 568 runs in seven games with three hundreds) for Bengal. Now, he will do everything in his power to ensure his Indian Premier League team get off to a winning start in the third edition of the tournament.

His skipper Anil Kumble and senior pro Rahul Dravid look upon him as a vital factor. "He is in brilliant form. Definitely, he will be our strength against KKR," said Kumble while Dravid said: "He's a very promising cricketer, who is in very good form."

SA experience

Goswami has played against KKR before. At Durban, in the last edition of the IPL, he contributed to Bangalore's win over the Knight Riders. The win was significant as it helped Kumble's outfit advance.

Goswami departed through a slog sweep for 43 off 46 balls after putting on 69 for the opening stand with Jacques Kallis.

Confident

The Knight Riders may have started IPL III on a winning note, but the India junior player is confident he can deliver the killer punch through his knowledge of most KKR players.

"Don't forget, Eden Gardens is also MY home ground. The crowd will support me too if I get a chance to play," he said.
