"I have a special place in my heart for this wicket and this ground," he said. "That was a special moment for me with all the big stars like ( Sunil) Gavaskar, ( Dilip) Vengsarkar, ( Anshuman) Gaekwad and others playing in that Mumbai-Baroda Ranji match.

There When he was reminded about the Ranji tie against Baroda at RCF in 1995, he said, "Oh, yes! And I remember it for Sachin's brilliant hundred. Baroda's ( Mukesh) Narula was trying to sledge Sachin during that knock and I couldn't help telling him not to wake up a ' sleeping giant'."

During the introductions with the State Bank of Hyderabad and Indian Oil squads, he looked at the skipper of the latter team and exclaimed, "Hey, little man! You are the captain?" Rajesh Pawar, the former Mumbai and now Baroda left- arm spinner could only smile back.

"He ( Pawar) was the youngest member of our Mumbai team and we used to bully him a lot," Manjrekar recalled.
