Manager Steve Kean has promised to make new signings that will keep Blackburn up, despite the club's dire finances.
The under-fire Kean will have talks on the transfer window with Rovers' Indian owners this week.
But lavish spending next month appears unlikely, after Rovers posted an annual pre-tax loss of 18.6 million pounds -- 13.8 million pounds of that coming through player trading.
Kean, copping huge criticism from fans, has Paul Robinson, Scott Dann, Michel Salgado, Martin Olsson, Gael Givet, Vince Grella and Ryan Nelsen sidelined, The Sun reports.
"This transfer window is going to be very important for us. We have a long list of injured defenders. We must strengthen quickly and want to do our business early," Kean said.
Kean got a welcome boost from the unexpected 1-1 Boxing Day draw at Liverpool.
"We are 100 per cent committed to strengthening. If we get our business done early, and also get some of the lads back, hopefully we will have a good January," he said.
