People coming to watch matches at the refurbished 33,000-capacity Wankhede Stadium are facing a torrid time in the Indian Premier League due to uncomfortable seating. The bucket seats are not just small, but also placed very close to each other.
MiD DAY spoke to a few fans during the Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings match here yesterday and they were clearly not happy with the seating facility. Said Harshit Bhatt: “The stadium looks awesome, but the seating is really uncomfortable. Someone with a waistline of 34 inches or more cannot sit comfortably.”

Mehul Shah, who was with Bhatt, said: “It is tough to be seated in one place for the whole match. The only reason we come to the stadium is the craze to watch these cricketers closely.”
A female fan said ladies have to be more watchful. “Seats are arranged in close distance, so there is not much space between the other person. I am lucky to be in a group, but single ladies need to be watchful,” she said.
The new bucket seats have often been criticised for being narrow and cramped. The uncomfortable bucket seats were also highlighted by Project Management Consultants (PMC), a private firm appointed by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to submit a detailed report of the renovation.u00a0
