Today is Hindi Diwas and former India opening batsman Virender Sehwag and star boxer Vijender Singh were among the first to propagate this early in the morning.
Sehwag put out a quote by eminent writer Sumitra Nandan Pant that read: "Hindi hamari rashtra ki abhivyakti ka saraltam stroth hai."
Thankfully, he translated that in English: "Hindi is the simplest source of expression of our nation."
Boxer Vijender also advocated the day on his Twitter handle. He wrote, "Hindi hamari shaan hai, Hindi se hi abhimaan hai. Hindi matr ek bhasha hai, yeh meri matrabhasha hai," which translates into: "Hindi is our pride and we are proud of Hindi. Hindi may be just one language but Hindi is my mother tongue."
Well said!
