BTW... no tickets, spectators told, despite stands being empty
Cricket is indeed a funny game. Cricket at the Wankhede Stadium in particular. Fans wanting to witness Day Three action of the third and final India vs WI Test made their to the Stadium in anticipation of watching Sachin Tendulkar bat. To their surprise, some were told that the tickets were sold out. Yet, the ground was far from full. Funny isn't it?

According to PTI, an explanation provided by the Mumbai Cricket Association for this occurrence was that 4,800 tickets reserved for the Garware Club House were not collected. "They sent money for the tickets earmarked for them and we had kept them ready. But four days before the match they wanted to buy only a reduced number of 3,300 tickets which we refused," a MCA official was quoted as saying.
This does not exactly provide a valid reason for the ground not being full despite spectators returning home empty-handed. In a press release yesterday, (emailed to the media at 6.40 pm), the MCA said that tickets for the fourth day were "completely Sold Out"
"There will be no sale of tickets of any denomination tomorrow morning for the 4th day's play," the release added. "Tickets are sold out. There was huge response and the queue was till the WIAA (Western India Automobile Association)," said MCA Jt Secretary Nitin Dalal. When asked how come Day Four tickets were sold out on Day Three, Dalal said that the association made an announcement about ticket sales.u00a0
