Akram escaped unhurt after an unidentified person opened fire at his car in Karachi on Wednesday. On his way to the National Stadium where he is conducting a training camp for young pacers, Akram's car was hit by another car from the back.

While Akram was arguing with the driver, an unidentified man from the car stepped out and opened fire at former Pakistan all-rounder's car.
"The police are confused as either the number of the car is wrong or other details provided by Akram are improper," said Abid Qaimkhani, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) investigating the case in Karachi's Gulshan area.
CCTV footage crucial
"Akram said the car number was AEG 061 and described it as a white colour Honda car (2002 model). As per records with our transport department, it is a maroon car and belongs to a citizen named Uber Ahmed," the officer added.
Qaimkhani said they would now have to rely on the CCTV footage. "Perhaps in the heat of moment, Akram may have noted some letters or numbers wrongly. We shall now take the help of CCTV footage to trace the driver," he said.
