Hopes were pinned on Rajasthan Royals' Shane Watson, making his Indian Premier League fifth edition debut against Delhi Daredevils yesterday. He arrived at the crease after in-form Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for 42 off 32 balls.
However, the star Aussie all-rounder failed to continue the good work done by Rahane. Watson managed to score only three runs in the first seven balls he faced. Off the last ball of spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, he successfully smacked one over deep midwicket region and into the stands.
A few balls later, he was cleaned up by Pawan Negi for eight off nine balls. He wasn’t impressive with the ball, going for 16 in his first two overs. He, however, came back to take the all-important wicket of Kevin Pietersen. u00a0
