"The win is a tremendous boost for us, more than the fact that it keeps us alive in the tournament. It was an all-round performance from us. We put up a respectable total though we finished a little bit short of what we had thought," Gilchrist said at the post-match press conference at the PCA Stadium here.
Despite the loss, Mumbai Indians stayed on top of the points table with 16 from 11 matches while Kings XI are ninth with eight points from 10 matches.
The famed Mumbai Indians' batting struggled against the spin of 21-year-old left-arm spinner Bharghav Bhatt, who finished with figures of four for 22 and was also adjudged the Man of the Match.
Only four Mumbai Indians batsmen ufffd Kieron Pollard (17), Aiden Blizzard (15), Ambati Rayudu (13) and Harbhajan Singh (12) ufffd could get to double digits.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians' hard-hitting all-rounder Kieron Pollard said that the match was simply a case of "bad cricket."
