Gundappa Vishwanath was caught unawares when guests landed up to greet him on his 70th birthday at a Bangalore location in 2019. The man behind the surprise party was his brother-in-law Sunil Gavaskar. Today, the fine batsman from Karnataka turns 75 and although he tells us there are no celebrations planned for his landmark birthday, Gavaskar who is in Bangalore, may spring a surprise again.

“I had my birthday party long ago. My friends and family quietly organised it. I get surprises every time. Sunil organised the 70th birthday party in a big manner and I had no clue. It was a big party indeed,” Vishwanath told mid-day from Bangalore. “I am sure something [party] will be done. They like to keep it secret till the last moment. I only know now that Sunil is coming to Bangalore,” he added.
