Australia's bid to retain the Ashes was in disarray Thursday after a horror start to the third Test at the WACA in Perth, slumping to 4-36 as England's pacemen tore through the top order.

England won the toss and sent Australia in to bat on a greenish pitch, a decision that paid immediate dividends as the home team's shaky batting line-up again faltered.
