England pacer James Anderson admits it is hard being away from his new-born daughter but claims he is fresh and raring to go for the third Ashes Test against Australia in Perth today. Anderson flew home after Adelaide victory to be with wife Daniella for the birth of Ruby, their second child. The England spearhead, who landed on Monday here, said: "It was nice to go back for a few days and be there for the birth. In an ideal world I probably would've stayed a bit longer but the nature of my job is I've got to be here and try to perform at my best for England." Asked if he could still be at his best at the Waca, he replied: "I don't see why not. I didn't get into a sleep routine in England or acclimatise to English conditions. "I had a good night's sleep last night, I've got two days' preparation before the Test and I feel happy for the rest from bowling after a tough first two Tests," was quoted as saying on Metro.co.uk However, the 28-year-old admitted it was hard to be away from his family: "Many people have to deal with stuff like this. It's another thing I have to cope with and I'll be fine." Skipper Andrew Strauss said Anderson did the right thing in ensuring he was present at the birth of his child. "Everything is about balance, and I'm very keen on players having balance in their lives," said Strauss. The England captain wants people in his team who are not just very good at cricket but are rounded individuals too. "It is not all about cricket. There is more to a cricketer than what happens on a cricket pitch. It was a decision he was very strong on. "He wanted to be at the birth and he feels very happy that he was able to do that, and even more so that he was able to get back here in time for this Test match. "We're looking for balanced people in our side and not just people who are thinking cricket 24 hours a day ufffd that is not particularly helpful," he said.
