Fred retires from international football

Brasilia: Brazil striker Fred on Sunday announced his retirement from international football. &ldquo;For me, the Selecao is finished,&rdquo; the 30-year-old Fluminense forward said. Fred ended the competition with a solitary goal, and was jeered by supporters after being substituted in the 1-7 rout.

Goalkeeper Julio Cesar admitted that his international career is over after Brazil&rsquo;s World Cup campaign ended in disappointment. &ldquo;This is probably my last World Cup. To play at the Copa America in 2015, at the age of 35, would be quite complicated,&rdquo; he said.
