Mumbai-based Aman and Rutwik are good friends, but both were supporting opposition camps at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. While Aman was rooting for five-time champions Australia, Rutwik was backing a spirited Afghanistan side. “I’m here to support Afghanistan. I believe they are very familiar with Indian conditions and can give any team a tough fight. It’s an interesting game because both Australia and Afghanistan need a win to stay alive in the competition,” Rutwik told mid-day on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Aman, who is a huge fan of Steve Smith, was disappointed that Australia’s star batsman missed this fixture due to illness. “I pray for his speedy recovery. I hope he is fit soon and can score a hundred at this World Cup,” said Aman.

Sydney-based Richard predicts Oz v NZ final
Richard at Wankhede yesterday
Sydney resident Richard has been keenly following the Australian team at this World Cup. And though the Aussies have had an up and down tournament, he is convinced that they will reach the summit clash on November 19. In fact, Richard is convinced that Pat Cummins’s team will win their sixth World Cup. “The final title clash will be between the Aussies and Kiwis and we [Australia] will beat New Zealand in the final,” he said, adding that hot favourites India, who have been dominant so far in the tournament, will lose to New Zealand in the semis.
