But, it was all in vain as the hosts dished out a shocker of a performance against Chennai Super Kings led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The Bollywood star was expecting a hat-trick of victories after KKR's wins over Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore, but his side crashed to a 55-run defeat. Shah Rukh was seen exchanging pleasantries with Dhoni after the match but the disappointment was quite evident. More than the loss, KKR captain Sourav Ganguly was disappointed to witness a reckless batting performance which contributed to their first loss in IPL III. His team perished for 109 in 19.2 overs after Chennai scored 164 for three with Dhoni playing a blinder (66 off 33 balls). "We gave away more than 60 runs in the last four overs and I reckon that became a turning point in the end," said Ganguly, who was dismissed for 11. "I guess we played too many shots in the end which cost us dearly. I hope we bat a bit more sensibly at the top of the order during our coming matches. "We bowled really well and kept things tight till the 15th over, but they (CSK) played well at the end." The Knight Riders were boosted by the arrival of New Zealand pace terror Shane Bond but he went wicketless for 33 in his four overs.u00a0 "I believe he bowled well apart from the last few deliveries. He has just arrived so we need to give him some time to settle down," said Ganguly.
