The Afghanistan team were provided a boost on Monday evening when they got an opportunity to meet their role model, Sachin Tendulkar at the Wankhede Stadium.

When Tendulkar, the global ambassador for the ICC World Cup arrived, all the Afghanistan players gathered and had individual as well as group photographs with him. Tendulkar also gave them a pep talk before their net session. He then keenly observed the batsmen in the nets, preparing to take on Australia on the morrow.

Prior to their interaction with the cricket icon, Afghanistan skipper

Shahidi Hashmatullah said that his players were excited to meet the batting icon. “Yeah, it’s the first time. And we are excited because he [Tendulkar] is a legend of the game. We watched him on TV as a successful player and he was a role model for a lot of our players. So, it will be an exciting time for the whole team,” Shahidi said during the pre-match press conference.
