In a breach of the already-tenuous bio-security bubble, a pitch invasion late on Sunday’s second day of the second Test didn’t cover the large security force in attendance at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in any glory.

Two fans from the south-western part of the ground ran in unchecked all the way towards Virat Kohli, fielding in the slips at the far end. One of them whipped out a cellphone as the two took selfies with the former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain. It wasn’t until they had taken a snap or two that police and security personnel ran in. Kohli was seen gesticulating to the security/police to desist from using strong-arm tactics.
