A confident Kolkata Knight Riders will eye their third title when they take on resurgent Sunrisers Hyderabad in what promises to be an epic IPL 2024 final showdown at Chennai's M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.

Ahead of the summit clash, here's a look at the biggest stats and records that could get shattered this evening.

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins needs three more wickets to break Shane Warne's record of taking the most wickets in an IPL season as captain. Cummins picked up 17 wickets in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. Currently, former Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne holds the record for the most wickets in an IPL season as a captain. The Australian picked up 19 wickets in the 2008 season with the Rajasthan-based franchise. In Hyderabad's previous match against Rajasthan in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2, Cummins bagged one wicket and removed RR's Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

  • Cummins will get a chance to create history and equal MS Dhoni's record of winning both the ODI World Cup and the IPL in a single cricket season as captain. Dhoni won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and also the IPL title in the same season. On the other hand, Cummins led Australia to win the recently concluded 2023 ODI World Cup and will captain the Hyderabad-based franchise in the IPL 2024 final. Dhoni won five IPL titles with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023 seasons. While Cummins won one IPL title in 2014 with the Knight Riders.

  • Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine needs 18 runs to become the first-ever IPL player to score 500-plus runs and take 15 wickets in a single season of the tournament. After playing 13 matches in the IPL 2024, the Caribbean allrounder has scored 482 runs at a strike rate of 179.85. In the 17th season of the IPL, Narine showcased a stunning performance as an opener and needs only 18 runs to cross the 500-run mark.

  • The 35-year-old Narine will also have the chance to become the fourth KKR player to score 500 runs in an IPL season after Robin Uthappa, Andre Russell, and Gautam Gambhir. In the ongoing season of the IPL 2024, Narine has bagged 16 wickets at an economy rate of 6.90 after playing.
