Delhi deliver late punch

Sameer Rizvi’s unbeaten half-century helps fifth-placed DC end their IPL-18 campaign on a high with six-wicket win over already-qualified Punjab Kings after four straight losses; PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer’s 53 in vain

Sameer Rizvi’s unbeaten 58 off 25 balls under pressure helped Delhi Capitals beat second-placed Punjab Kings by six wickets to end IPL-18 campaign on a high here on Saturday. DC chased down the 207-run target with three balls to spare. Rizvi’s innings was laced with three fours and five six. Karun Nair also contributed with 44 off 27 balls. This is DC’s first victory after four defeats.

Earlier, Marcus Stoinis brought his big-hitting abilities to the fore after Shreyas Iyer’s sparkling half-century as PBKS posted a challenging 206-8. Stoinis blazed away to a 16-ball 44 not out after Iyer set it up with a 53-run knock off 34 deliveries. Stoinis struck four sixes and three fours during his blistering knock.
