Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has offered to pay the fine imposed on Umar Akmal from his own PSL fee so that his younger brother can start his rehabilitation programme. Umar, 30, has not played any cricket since February, 2020 when he was suspended by the PCB for not reporting spot-fixing approaches made to him before the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.

The PCB recently rejected Umar`s request that he be allowed to pay a 4.25 million rupees fine imposed on him by the Court of Arbitration for Sports in February in installments to pave the way for him to return to cricket. Umar had pleaded with the PCB that he should be allowed to pay the fine installments since he was financially not strong at the moment. But the PCB rejected Umar`s request and has directed him to pay the full fine or he would not be able to start his rehabilitation program as per the anti-corruption code.
