Though it was not an India game, the iconic Wankhede Stadium was packed during Mumbai’s first game of the 2023 World Cup. Thousands of cricket fans were trying their luck to get a ticket, but failed in their attempts.

In fact, they had two special seats at the stadium in the ICC World Cup 2011 Victory Memorial Stand, where then India captain MS Dhoni’s World Cup-winning six against Sri Lanka landed. “I never imagined enjoying the game from such a wonderful place which is attached to a legendary cricketer like Dhoni. I participated in an online contest and won this ‘jackpot’. He [Hasbe] is my colleague and we enjoyed this game from these special seats,” Kapde told mid-day.

Kapde revealed that he watched that 2011 final and the six with his family on television. “And today, I am at the same place,” he exclaimed with glee. Fortune may favour Kapde again, but this stroke of luck is priceless.
