“It was a good toss to win. If we add a few more runs, we will be in a dominating position. We did well today [Friday] and this is a great position to be in. I feel our spinners will be effective,” Tendulkar remarked.
He also lavished praise on opener Mayank Agarwal, who scored an unbeaten 120. “From what I saw of Mayank initially, he took time to get his eye and settle down. When the spinners came on, he was quite aggressive against them and played some amazing shots. When you are prepared to back yourself and play big shots, the spinner also thinks twice [whether] to hit those areas. And Mayank was able to put that in their [NZ spinners’] heads,” he signed off.
