MCA hikes remuneration of Mumbai selectors

The MCA Apex Council also ratified the appointment of Sairaj Bahutule, former India leggie, as Director of the BKC indoor academy. Meanwhile, there were objections raised regarding Mumbai coach Amol Muzumdar’s 10-month tenure and remuneration of R50 lakh

Mumbai's senior selection committee is set for a windfall with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) deciding on Friday to nearly double their annual remuneration.  Former India pacer Salil Ankola, the chairman of the senior and U-23 selection panel, will now get R10 lakh while his co-selectors will get Rs 9 lakh. Last season, the senior and U-23 selection committee received Rs 6 (chairman) and Rs 5.5 lakh (co-selectors).  

The decision to hike the remuneration of selectors was taken during the Apex Council meeting. “The senior selection committee also have to watch U-23 games. We felt there was too much burden on them and they needed to be compensated accordingly. We have also increased the remuneration for junior selection panels,” an MCA official told mid-day.

Meanwhile, there were objections raised regarding Mumbai coach Amol Muzumdar’s 10-month tenure and remuneration of R50 lakh. It is learnt that members wanted Muzumdar’s contract to be for 12 months and his remuneration reworked. After some discussions, his remuneration issue was settled, but there is still no clarity on his tenure.  However, an official said that the Apex Council has given a green signal to Muzumdar’s appointment.
