San Antonio's Tony Parker scored 30 points as the Spurs held off the Golden State Warriors 107-106 Tuesday in a National Basketball Association contest.
Tim Duncan played just 24 minutes because of an ailing right quadriceps, but scored 13 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter for the Spurs.
All five of the Spurs' past six games had been decided by three points or less, and they won only two of them.
"We're obviously going through a rough patch," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "We can't seem to sustain what we're tying to do offensively, and Golden State's a high-scoring team."
Roger Mason scored 24 points, and made the go-ahead shot with 23.8 seconds to play as San Antonio avoided a three-game losing streak after falling to Boston and Houston last week.
"Definitely a relief," said Mason. "Those last few games stung."
But Golden State coach Don Nelson was encouraged, despite the defeat.
"Compared to the last time we played here," Nelson said, "we have taken giant steps in the right direction. . . . At least we made them play with Duncan. We forced them to put him back in the game, so they had to beat us with their best."
Monta Ellis twice had a chance to win it for Golden State but missed a jump shot with 5.9 seconds left, then rattled an attempt off the rim as time expired.
