The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has applauded New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel for his 10-wicket feat at the Wankhede Stadium and as a token of their appreciation, they will present him a hand-written scoresheet along with a memento at the conclusion of the second Test.

Patel joined an exclusive list of only three bowlers (Jim Laker and Anil Kumble being the other two) who have pocketed all 10 wickets in an innings when he bowled out India for 325 in the first innings of the Mumbai Test on Saturday.

“We have had some truly iconic moments at the Wankhede Stadium, where history has been created. One such occurrence happened yesterday [Saturday] with a rare performance by Ajaz Patel. Claiming all 10 wickets had happened just twice before. It’s wonderful that the spectators at the Wankhede Stadium could witness this outstanding bowling performance. So, the MCA has decided to present Ajaz a hand-written scoresheet prepared by our scorers. We will give it to him after the match,” MCA president Dr Vijay Patil told mid-day on Sunday.

Interestingly, Patel is also likely to part with one of the two match balls that were used during his feat. The items will adorn the MCA museum which is currently being planned by the association. “Ajaz will be giving us an autographed scoresheet and match jersey. MCA have requested him for a signed match ball too. There were two balls used in the first innings and he may give us [MCA] one. All these items will be kept at the MCA museum,” added a MCA official.

The new ball was taken after the completion of the mandatory 80 overs in the first innings. Ajaz had taken six wickets with the first ball and four with the second.
