Opener Wasim Jaffer joins elite list of greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Vijay Hazare, Dilip Vengsarkar, VVS Laxman and Mohammad Azharuddin to have scored 50 first class tons in India.
Mumbai opener Wasim Jaffer has become only the eighth Indian in the modern era to score 50 first-class centuries.
Jaffer, who already has the honour of holding the record for most runs in the Ranji Trophy, now has added a couple more to his kitty. On Thursday, on the opening day of the Mumbai vs Vidarbha tie at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, he scored his 34th Ranji hundred, becoming the batsman with the most centuries in the tournament. He also joined an elite list of Indians to have scored 50 first class hundreds. His tally of 50 hundreds in first-class cricket includes five in Tests.
