Russian stars inspired by war heroics, says Kuznetsova

Russian tennis star Svetlana Kuznetsova says the reasons for her country's success in the women's game can be traced back to the hardships endured by Russia during the Second World War.

Kuznetsova, the World No 7, qualified for the semi-finals of the French Open with a 7-6 (7/3), 5-7, 7-5 victory over America's Serena Williams yesterday.
