Openers Shane Watson and Simon Katich gave Australia a bright start to their first innings in the second Test against the West Indies being played at the Adelaide Oval, after middle order West Indian batsman Brendan Nash's 92 helped his team to reach a highly competitive 451 on the third day of the game on Saturday.

Earlier, Nash missed out on a century, but he and Ravi Rampaul rewrote the record books in putting up the highest West Indies total in a Test innings against Australia since Brian Lara's 277 at the SCG in 1992-93.
