Star opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 73 runs in 117 deliveries in India's first essay of the fourth test against England. With this, he is just falling short of 66 runs from becoming the fastest batsman to complete 1,000 runs in Indian test history
So far, the right-hander has featured in just seven tests for India and has already amassed 861 runs with a highest score of unbeaten 214 runs. If he manages to score the remaining runs, he will achieve the feat of fastest Indian to 1000 test runs in just eight matches
Vinod Kambli tops the charts. He achieved the feat against West Indies in a test match on November 18, 1994. The former Indian batsman took just 12 matches and 14 innings to complete 1000 runs in tests
India's test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara comes second on the list. He completed 1000 test runs against Australia in a match on March 2, 2013. The veteran achieved the feat in 11 test matches and 18 innings
The third place is in the name of Mayank Agarwal. In a test match against Australia on December 17, 2020, he scored his 1000th test run for India in 12 matches and 19 innings
