Former Chelsea and England striker Kerry Dixon was jailed for nine months Friday after being found guilty of assaulting a man in a bar in an attack described as “sickening”. Dixon, 53, had denied attacking a fellow drinker in Dunstable, 30 miles (48km) north of London.

But the assault on 38-year-old father-of-two Ben Scoble in May last year was caught on CCTV. Judge Barbara Mensah said the attack was “shocking and sickening to watch” and that the violence used was “disproportionate and over the top”.
