Following a dream start to his Liverpool career by winning the title in his maiden season (2024-25) at the helm, manager Arne Slot believes his team needs to evolve, particularly when it comes to scoring from set-pieces, as it could be the difference between winning and losing tight games — something they found out, much to their chagrin, in their previous EPL match against Crystal Palace (a 1-2 loss).
“We play tomorrow [against] Chelsea, I think they’ve scored more than 50 per cent of their goals from set-pieces. So, this is the new reality in the EPL. This season, we have had many chances from set-pieces — unfortunately we haven’t scored yet. In the second half of last season, we unlocked a low defensive block by scoring from set-pieces, but this season we haven’t done that,” said Slot on Friday ahead of their match against the Blues.
