It’s been a while since Cristiano Ronaldo wore a Real Madrid shirt, but his legacy still lives on in the Spanish capital, says superstar striker Kylian Mbappe. Also, Lionel Messi’s Argentina thoroughly deserved the 2022 FIFA World Cup, admits the French ace, who scored a hat-trick in that final at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium only to see his team eventually go down via the tie-breaker.

‘I want to make my own way’

In an interview with Argentine legend Jorge Valdano on Movistar Plus, Mbappe said: “Cristiano has always been a role model and an example for me. I’m lucky to be able to talk to him and get advice from him. He has helped me a lot. At Real Madrid, Cristiano is No. 1, the leading player. People, even now, dream about him, but I want to make my own way. I hope that people dream about me in the same way, that it will be a historic moment for me and for Real Madrid.”
